Vape Coil and Cartridge Guide: Resistance, Lifespan and When to Replace

Vape Coil and Cartridge Guide: Resistance, Lifespan and When to Replace – VapeClub.cam

The vape coil is the part that actually makes the vapor, and it is the part you will replace most often. Understanding coils and cartridges saves money and keeps flavor at its best. Here is what you need to know, from the team at VapeClub.

What is a vape coil?

A coil is a small metal heating element surrounded by cotton wick. The cotton soaks up e-liquid, the metal heats up, and the liquid turns to vapor. In many pods the coil is built into the cartridge, so you replace the whole pod; in others the coil pushes in and out separately (often called an OCC).

What do the ohm numbers mean?

Resistance is measured in ohms (Ω) and tells you how the coil will behave:

Matching liquid to resistance is covered in saltnic vs freebase.

Mesh coils vs regular coils

A mesh coil uses a thin perforated sheet of metal instead of a wound wire. The larger surface heats more evenly, which generally means fuller flavor and a more consistent life. Most current pod cartridges use mesh.

How long does a coil last?

Typically one to two weeks of regular use, but it varies with:

  • Sweetness of the liquid – sweeteners caramelise on the coil.
  • Power level – running above the recommended wattage burns the cotton.
  • Vaping style – chain-vaping does not give the wick time to re-saturate.

Five signs your coil needs replacing

  1. A burnt or bitter taste
  2. Flavor is muted even with fresh liquid
  3. Less vapor than usual
  4. Gurgling or leaking
  5. The liquid in the pod turns dark quickly

How to make a coil last longer

  • Prime it. After filling a new pod, wait 5–10 minutes before the first puff.
  • Keep the pod topped up so the wick never runs dry.
  • Stay within the wattage range printed on the coil.
  • Pause between puffs.

Finding the right replacement

Coils and cartridges are not universal. Always match the brand and platform of your device. The Cartridge – Coils – OCC category at VapeClub includes parts such as the Gotek Cartridge 0.6Ω, Favostix Cartridge 0.6Ω and dotStick Revo replacement tank. If you are unsure which fits, send us a message with your device name.

Summary

Know your resistance, prime every new coil and keep a spare on hand. If you are still choosing a device, check spare-part availability first – see step 4 of the vape pod Cambodia buying guide and the vapepod guide.

Frequently asked questions

Can I wash and reuse a vape coil?

Rinsing may remove some residue, but worn cotton cannot be restored. Replacement is the reliable fix.

Are vape coils universal?

No. Each coil or cartridge fits a specific device family, so always match brand and model.

Why did my new coil burn immediately?

It was probably not primed. Let a filled pod stand for 5–10 minutes before the first puff.

Vaping products contain nicotine, which is addictive. They are intended for adult smokers and vapers aged 18+ only and are not for non-smokers, minors or pregnant women. Always check the local regulations that apply to you.
